Homework Policy
Your child should not spend longer than 20 minutes on their homework. Please ensure that they are given enough time to play outside and be active. It is a great practice to set aside 15 -20 minutes for reading a book of their choice.
HOMEWORK WILL BEGIN
Monday Writing Page
Tuesday: Kids A-Z.com
Spend 10 minutes on KidsA-Z.com. Please follow directions on the back of your child’s homework folder on how to log into the site.
Raz-Kids https://www.raz-kids.com/
Wednesday: Math Homework Workbook Page OR IXL
Students can choose to complete ONE Math Workbook page (front and back) on a topic that corresponds to what's being worked on in class OR spend 10-15 minutes practicing on IXL.com (login directions are placed in the back of your child’s homework folder). If your child chooses to work on ixl.com please have them select the Common Core tab at the top of the home page, then scroll down the list of standards and have your child select any area of practice listed under the standard:
IXL.com- www.IXL.com/signin/dusd
Thursday: Sight Word Practice
CLICK TO DOWNLOAD FULL SIGHT WORD LIST
Make flashcards for weekly sight words and practice, practice, practice. Please save and collect the sight words throughout the year. The weekly sight words can be found in the newsletter under “Week at a Glance.”
Friday: Turn in Communication/Homework Folder with Writing Paper and Math Worksheet!
Please take the time to assure your child is learning the appropriate study habits. I will receive weekly updates about the amount of time each student spends on Learning A-Z/RazKids as well as IXL and I take the time to check in that portion of the homework on a checklist. Please know that you have the option to choose between IXL and a math worksheet from your child’s Pearson Envision workbook and if incomplete, you will receive a note stating that.
